Votes:0 Most computers are boxes. More often than not their shapes are determined by the smaller boxes they must contain; the rectangular chips and boards and the squarish monitor and storage devices. It makes sense. Boxes are simple to design and manufacture, and very compatible with other boxes. The problem is that designing even the most wonderfully shaped block does little to integrate technology smoothly and unirritably into our lives. Consider the unhealthy posture the body assumes while working on a PC all day, wrist and hand injuries, or the abundance of cryptic products like VCRs and ATM machines. We hover over technology, scratch our heads and push buttons. It seems that the technology industry has forgotten that designed things affect experience. Instead, with each computer generation t Read More Go to Site

It offers a new human-centric paradigm for wearable augmented reality interface design ( dissertation abstract ). Wearable Computers bring about a unique mobile computing experience. Designers need to study human sign systems in order to originate wearable designs. A humanistic mobile interface must be drawn from the way humans participate in systems of signs (visual, aural, olfactory, gustatory and tactile). I use the detail, an intimate moment in time, often woven in oversize scale to intensify a shared emotional and sensual experience. This woven image brings with it many of the sensual experiences that we associate with cloth. Child hood family snapshot and video stills are some of the raw materials that I draw on to investigate small, intimate details of the body or to capture a fleeting human expression.
